Seeding of "One District-One Product" FPO on Poultry as a COVID-19 response to Rehabilitate Migrant Labours
ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ariyalur is always keen in creating rural employment through various agriculture enterprises like Integrated Farming System, Goat farming, Desibird rearing, Calf rearing, Dairy etc., The current situation of COVID-19 threat the world warrant to create more rural employment to safeguard the livelihood of migrant labours those who return to their native villages.
ICAR KVK planned uniquely to create employment and income generation through Desibird rearing that to a special breed of Ariyalur District named "Siruvidai or Arupatham Sittu". The formation of Farmer Producer Organization with concept of "One District-One Product" issued by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare on 17th July 2020 exactly fit into our vision.
Seeding of this concept among the stake holders/key persons engaged in Desibird rearing done on 17th July 2020 and the member's mobilization (atleast 500) and FPO registration is under pipeline to reap the benefits for FPOs from Government.
This unique approach initiated by KVK, Ariyalur will beyond doubt create employment and income to rural people and migrant labours besides achieving self sufficiency in Desibird production in the District in the few years ahead.
